CAR TRIP (IELTS Speaking Part-1)

1. Do you like to travel by car?

Yes, driving is my passion! I think cars made our lives a lot easier. I drive Hyundai Verna nowadays and it’s fun to drive especially during the monsoon season.

or

Yes, I like to travel by car. I find it very convenient and time-saving compared to taking public transport. I have a bike too but I prefer taking the car, especially during the hot summer days.

2. When do you travel by car?

I drive almost everyday to and fro between home & office. Occasionally, I also travel by car to see my grand mother at our native village.

or

I like to travel by car when I am going to places in my town or nearby cities (2-3 hours). For longer journeys, I prefer the train to the car. The roads in many parts of my country are not in bad shape, so car trip for long journeys is unsafe and uncomfortable.

3. Which is the farthest place you have ever travelled by car?

The farthest place I’ve travelled by car till date is Katra in Jammu & Kashmir. There is a famous holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi located in Trikuta mountains. It was an enchanting car trip that I made with my family.

The farthest place I have been to by car is Jaipur, Rajasthan. It was a very last-minute trip as my grandmother got sick and we couldn’t find any train tickets. My father and I took turns driving the car and reached there in about half a day.

4. Do you like to sit on the front seat or back seat when travelling by car?

Well..most of the time I am on driver’s seat. Actually, I am the only one who knows how to drive a car in my family. Moreover, I like to drive upfront. I’ve always been passionate about vehicles, spending all my spare time as a teenager driving cars.

I like to sit on the front row either driving the car or on the passenger side. The front seat has a better view and I like to keep a watch on traffic even when I am not driving. I feel in control when I am in the front.

Relax

1. What do you do to relax?

Listening to music on Alexa Echo Dot gives me a great relief when I’m stressed. It’s a great device. In addition, any time I need to let off a bit of steam, I call my friends and and talk. I believe friendly chit-chat is an excellent stress buster.

or

I love to do gardening to relax. Gardening brings me closer to nature and helps me forget about the daily hurdles of life. Attending to the plants, watering them, and watching them grow gives me joy. Even sitting outside in a garden after a hectic day brings me calm.

2. Do you think doing sports is the right way to relax?

Playing sports is a great way to relax. The physical movement of any kind is the quickest and easiest way to bust stress. You can take a walk around the block, put on some music and dance, or play on the ground with your family.

Participating in sports is an excellent way to unwind. Sports entail physical activity that benefits not only our physical health but also our emotional and psychological well-being. Our bodies manufacture endorphins, which make us feel happy when we participate in sports. Playing sports also improves our sleep and allows us to socialize with other people.

3. Do you think vacation is a good time for you to relax?

Holiday is always a perfect time to loosen up a bit. Vacations can have physical and psychological health benefits. People who take a break have lower stress, less risk of heart disease, a better outlook on life, and more motivation to achieve goals.

Taking a vacation is a great way to disconnect from work and other responsibilities. It’s also a wonderful time to spend with family and strengthen ties. It re-energizes us and leaves us feeling revitalised.

4. Do you think students need more relaxing time?

Students today are under a lot of pressure to succeed in their careers. It is critical to relax the brain in order to learn more effectively. It not only improves a student’s concentration but also their academic performance. It also helps them improve their attendance, conduct, and behaviour, as well as their overall health and well-being.

or

Students require more downtime because stress is unavoidable for students due to their hectic schedules. It is critical for their mental health and well-being to have more leisure time in between classes or after school. It also boosts their productivity and sharpens their focus.

Part-1 Wallet topic, 

1. Do you use a wallet?

Yes! I use a wallet everyday to keep all my personal belongings, travel documents, money and cards protected from theft, damage or weather exposure. No doubt, It’s a great accessory that can help to define your style and be part of your image.

or

Yes, I keep my credit cards, cash, and crucial receipts and paperwork in it. It is dangerous to carry loose cash and cards in one’s pocket or immediately in a bag. In the event that it rains, a wallet protects our belongings from getting wet.

2. Have you ever lost a wallet?

Yes, I had a pretty bad day last week. I went to a restaurant and lost my wallet there. There is almost no more sinking feeling than losing your personal and financial belongings with the wallet.

or

Yes, once I lost my wallet on the subway. I was going to college and paid for my train ticket. When I got off the train, I realized I didn’t have my wallet. I reported the theft but all efforts go in vain.

3. Have you ever sent a wallet to someone as a gift?

Well, Let me recall…! Yes, I have sent a crossbody wallet as a birthday gift to my mother. Her old wallet was in a tattered state when I last saw it. So, I surprised her with a new one.

or

Once I gifted my father a wallet on his 50th birthday. I have seen him using the same wallet for years. It was very old, and the leather lost its texture. He was very delighted to see my gift.

4. Do most of your friends use a wallet?

My friends are actually crazy about wallets. They think the wallet is a powerful symbol of wealth, success and ability—and all that is, in particular, because it carries money. 

Part-1 Environment topic, 

1. Would you like to work in a company related to environmental protection?

I’ll definitely work for a company or organisation associated with environmental protection. As a matter of fact, from 2018-2020, I volunteered for Greenpeace in campaigning on worldwide issues such as climate change, deforestation, overfishing, commercial whaling, genetic engineering, and anti-nuclear issues.
or

I would love to work for an environmentally conscious organisation that uses sustainable practices to protect the environment. Climate change, global warming, air pollution, water pollution, waste management, and other environmental issues face our world. Natural calamities, such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and cyclones, have become all too common in recent decades. Everyone, in my opinion, should actively participate in environmental protection.

2. How can we protect the environment?

We only have one planet on which we live. So its our moral obligation to adopt following practices and safeguard our mother earth:
☑️ Stop using bottled water
☑️ Conserving electricity or finding alternative energy sources
☑️ Using less petroleum products
☑️ Buying fresh organic produce such as vegetables etc.
☑️ Replacing plastic bags with reusable bags
☑️ Saving every drop of water
We should remember that a baby step from all of us can make a sea change in the environment.

There are many ways we can help the help environment and reduce our carbon footprint, such as:
✅ Use reusable cloth bags instead of single-use plastics.
✅ Recycle and compost.
✅ Unplug household appliances when you are not using them.
✅ Plant trees.
✅ Take local transportation instead of driving cars.
✅ Bike to work/college if possible.
✅ Use eco-friendly products.

3. Do you think you have done enough to protect the environment?

Honestly speaking, I don’t think I have done enough to preserve the environment. Although I’ve worked with Environmental NGO’s and played my part but I am still a laggard in my efforts. In the near future, I am going to ditch my car and start cycling to my office in order to reduce the carbon footprint.

I’ve recently begun tiny improvements at home, such as recycling, decreasing food waste, composting, and avoiding the use of plastics, but these are insufficient. One thing I need to do is begin carpooling with coworkers rather than driving my own car to work. I’d also like to invest in solar panels and energy-saving gadgets for my home.

4. Is there education about how to protect environment at schools?

Schools do have Environment as part of their study curriculum which is largely based on a theoretical framework. They should rather go for practical things like setting up a recycling system in the school cafeteria, planting a small organic garden that will provide fresh vegetables for the cafeteria. Allow the children to support local wildlife and reduce CO2 in the atmosphere by planting trees, shrubs and flowers in the school playground.

In Indian schools, environmental education is included in the curriculum. Children are the future, and they must be taught about environmental issues at a young age in order to grow up to be change agents in an environmentally conscious world.
