My name is XYZ. My date of birth is 10th March 1997. I am an Indian citizen. I have completed my Bachelor of commerce in April 2017.after that I started my job as an marketing executive  in Tata Company from June 2017 to till now. My hobbies are reading, writing and listening music. Now I am looking forward for my higher studies and I applied in Cardiff Metropolitan University for Msc International Business Management Course for Jan’22 intake.

What do you know about Cardiff Metropolitan University?

Cardiff Metropolitan is situated in Cardiff, the capital city of Wales.  Located only two hours from London by road or train, Cardiff has an exciting and diverse character and has been named as one of the world's top cities to visit by National Geographic Magazine.

The Cardiff Metropolitan University is a public university that was established in 1865. Previously recognized as the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff, this university offers education in various disciplines, including business, economics, arts, fashion, communications, and law. In the year 1976, the four institutes of this university merged to form the Cardiff Institute of Higher Education. Furthermore, it received its current name after it ended its affiliation with the University of Wales in the year 2011. Cardiff Metropolitan University is ranked 801 in World University Rankings by Times Higher Education and has an overall score of 4.2 stars, according to student reviews on Study portals.

Cardiff Metropolitan is home to approximately 11,000 students, with over 1200 international students from more than 143 countries. Cardiff Met has a Silver Teaching Excellence Framework. Why did you choose Cardiff Met for your studies?

 

I have chosen to study at this University for a number of reasons.

It has been awarded silver for teaching excellence under the UK government teaching excellence framework. The University offering master degree with very affordable tuition fees of just 12,500 GBP after deduction of scholarship of 1500. It has been ranked Wales University of the year by the Times and Sunday Times Good University guide 2021. The University has close links with over 5000 employers, which ensures that all programs of university are industry focused. Work placements and study visits during my study in the Cardiff Metropolitan University will provide me practical skills and experience. Also, 96% University graduates are in further study or in employment after the graduation. Apart from this, I like module structure of this university, they are more reliable and that suited for my future. In addition, more than 143 countries student study at this university. So I will get the opportunity to build my international networks and will be able to furnish myself with multicultural tests, fashions and customs.

 

 

What can you tell us about your chosen course and the modules you will be studying?

 

I have completed my Bachelor of Commerce and applying for MSc International Business & Management in Cardiff Metropolitan University. My course study contains 140 credits and a final project module contains 40 credits. The MSc will be awarded on successful completion of the 180 credits. My Compulsory Taught Modules are:

·        Business Solutions and Transformation (60 credits)

·        In Search of Creativity, Innovation & Difference (20 credits)

·        Globalisation and Contemporary Issues in Business and Management (20 credits)

·        Business in Global Economy (20 credits)

·        Professional Development, Practice and Performance (20 credits)

 

I need to choose one optional module from International Research Project, Consultancy Project and Business Plan. My chosen course considers and evaluates the demands of the international economy, and the increasing globalisation of business and management practice.  The curriculum, draws upon the latest thinking in this area, and provides a comprehensive and contemporary review of business in the 21st Century. Msc International Business and Management is a highly recognised and respected qualification. This looks at the whole field of business and explores management, marketing, finance, operations and more. Most interesting thing to study on this particular area is that this subject will enable the opportunity to develop in collaboration business information and management area. It will help me to find a valuable work placement after skills either in India or overseas.

 

 

What are the methods of assessment for this course?

 

My course will be assessed via coursework, and will take a variety of formats including essay, reflective evaluations, case study analysis, marketing plans and presentations.

 

 

Why did you choose to continue your studies in the UK?

Which other universities did you think about applying to?

 

Well, before applying into Cardiff Metropolitan University I had checked out University of Huddersfield, London South Bank University, Middlesex University, University of Bradford etc. But its fees are in the range of £16,500 and it is in the overcrowded city London and so I drop out for Middle Sex University. Secondly, LSBU, fees of this university is £14900.and location in London but modules also didn’t attract me and also South Bank has a high violent crime rate and a high property crime rate for UK and then I search for University of Huddersfield.

In this university I like location, but tuition fees in this university is also high compare to Cardiff Met Then after I go for Cardiff Metropolitan University and I like in this university location, fees are £12,500 so this is in my budget and also I like modules and this university has been ranked Wales University of the year by the Times and Sunday Times Good University guide 2021and received a silver teaching excellence framework award. So I chose to study in Cardiff Metropolitan University.

 

If there has been a gap between your previous studies and this new course, what was the reason for taking this break?

 

I do not have any study gap as since completion of my bachelors I have started working with XYZ Company.

 

 

How will the course you have applied for help with your future career plans?

 

●      This course will teach me Business Solution and Transformation, Globalization, Professional Development, Business in Global Economy and so on therefore; I strongly believe that this course will be played as my milestone to reach my desire goal.

 

●      Most interesting thing to study on this particular area is that this subject will enable the opportunity to develop my business and management skills.

 

●      It will help me to find a valuable work placement after skills either in India or overseas.

 

 

●      Moreover, I strongly believe it will help my understanding level and enhance my knowledge to build up a bright career.

 

 

What do you plan to do after graduation?

 

After completing my studies, i would return my home country India. Then I will join Banking sector or Top MNCs of India like City Bank, Coca cola, Sony India Ltd as Business Development Manager and my expected salary will be in the range of 1 lac to 1.20 lacs per annum.

 

What accommodation arrangements have you made/plan to make in Cardiff?

 

I did not sorted out accommodation yet. But I have decided to live in private accommodation near to the University campus. I have already checked on Spareroom.com and gumtree.com for my accommodation. I have also checked university’s accommodation facility where currently they have nearly 1,000 study bedrooms located at the Cyncoed and Plas Gwyn campuses and allocate around 600 private en-suite halls of residence to students through nomination agreements. I have checked the cost of private accommodation, it will cost me around 750-1000 pound per month.

 

 

 

 

If you plan to have dependants living with you in the UK, how can you ensure that your responsibility for them will not affect your studies?

 

There is no dependent travelling along with me, I will be travelling along for my higher studies.

 

How will you fund your studies? Is this a guaranteed source of income for course fees and living expenses?

 

Well, my father/parents are my financial sponsor and my father is doing Agriculture Business in my country. Besides this he has some other house and properties.

My father’s annual income is 17 to 18 thousand pounds. Also my parents wants me to apply for my higher studies from abroad and for that, they have saved money we have some savings of around  14-15000 pound, which will be sufficient enough to pay my tuition fees and maintenance cost.
